WAIKATO TOUCH REFEREES REGISTRATION

Hi all and welcome to the Waikato Touch Referee Season. We have been working towards offering our referees more opportunities to upskill and also receive some form of remuneration for your assistance with our WTA Events. 

We are currently seeking registrations of our Waikato Touch referees to establish our database and to ensure we can keep everyone updated with the latest information for our province.We also look to engage with referees more to provide development pathways for those wishing to reach their development goals.

Below is some information on our upcoming events which will enable us to get a head start on our season and to enable us to ensure we have officials available for each of our events.

Junior Programme & Youth Trials-Sunday 2nd October (Volunteer based) 

  • U16s-U18s - 6-8 referees required from 1.00pm-3.00pm

Junior Programme & Youth Trials-Sunday 16th October (Volunteer based)

  • U10s-U14s- 10-12 referees required from 10.00am-12.00pm (Potential to utilise Youth Players)
  • U16s-U18s - 6-8 referees required from 1.00pm-3pm

Junior Programme & Opens/Masters Trials-Sunday 30th October (Volunteer and Remuneration based)

  • U10s-U14s- 10-12 referees required from 10.00am-12.00pm (Potential to utilise Youth Players)
  • Super Touch – 4-6 referees required 1.30pm-4.30pm
  • Masters - 6-8 referees required from 1.00pm-4.00pm

Battle of the Bombays – Sunday 15th January (Remuneration based)

  • 20 plus referees required for U10s through to Masters Grades

Contingent Day-Sunday 18th December (Volunteer based)

  • Youth and Open teams-Teams required to supply their own referees but an opportunity for referees to volunteer their services.
  • Referees required for Youth, Opens and Masters Grades 12.30pm-4.00pm

NZSS - Friday 9th, Saturday 10th Sunday 11th December (Funding available for interested referees, Accommodation and meals provided by Touch NZ)

  • Secondary Schools teams Referee endorsement required

Central Junior Touch Series Sunday 22nd January 2023 (Remuneration based)

  • Junior & Youth teams (U10s-U18s) - 20 referees required for the WHOLE day

Tamariki Touch Classic-Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th January 2023 (Volunteer based)

  • Junior teams (U10s-U14s) – Approx. 18 referees required, accommodation, meals and van provided

Youth Nationals-Friday 10th to Sunday 12th February 2023 (Funding available for interested referees, Accommodation and meals provided by Touch NZ)

  • Youth teams (U16s-U18s) Referee endorsement required

Opens and Masters Nationals-Thursday 2nd-Sunday 5th March 2022 (Funding available for interested referees, Accommodation and meals provided by Touch NZ)

  • U21, Opens and Masters teams Referee endorsement required

Waikato Secondary Schools Modules-Monday nights beginning February 2022 (Remuneration based)

  • Secondary School teams-15-20 referees required (Touch NZ Athletes to provide assistance in return for koha towards their campaign)

Waikato Affiliated Touch Modules

  • Tuesday (Social Sport, University of Waikato Fields, HILLCREST. Core Group required to officiate ALL games over a 3 month period)
  • Tuesday (Mareikura Womens module, Swarbrick Park, FRANKTON. Competitive and social womens grades from 5.00pm-8.00pm. 10-16 referees required)
  • Wednesday (Venue TBC, Elite Mens module)
  • Thursday (Hamilton Touch Module, Swarbrick Park, FRANKTON. Mens and Mixed social/competitive grades. 5.00pm-8.00pm. 10-20 referees required)
  • Thursday (Suburbs Touch, Flagstaff Park, FLAGSTAFF. Social and Junior Grades 5.00pm-8.00pm. 10-20 referees required)
  • Thursday (Te Awamutu Sports Touch Module, Albert Park TE AWAMUTU Social and Junior Grades 4.00pm-8.00pm. 10-20 referees required)
  • Friday (Steele Park Touch, Steele Park, HAMILTON EAST. Social/Competitive Mixed grades. 5.00pm-8.00pm. 10-20 referees required)
  • Friday (Hautapu Sports Touch, Hautapu Sports Grounds, HAUTAPU, Social/Junior Mixed grades. 5.00pm-8.00pm. 10-20 referees required)

ENDORSEMENT FOR NATIONAL EVENTS & HIGHER CRITERIA

  • Referees are to show how they will support WTA in the development of referees in the province.
  • A referee must attend one or more modules on a regular basis during the season.(Determined by each module)
  • A referee must attend any Waikato trials when requested to do so.
  • The correct form and process needs to be completed, at the beginning of the season so that a quick endorsement can be given at the appropriate time.
  • A referee must inform the Provincial Director of referees of any on field or off field incidents that could hinder the endorsement process.
  • A referee must comply with the WTA Code of Conduct policy.
  • Any financial liabilities to any association, club, module or any other debt needs to be cleared.
  • All referees must abide by Health & Safety policies set by Modules, WTA and Touch NZ.

First priority for Remuneration based WTA Events will be given to those that assist with the voluntary based WTA events. Funding will also be dependent on your continued assistance through out the season also. Funding approval needs to be sought as soon as you express your interest with Touch NZ for any of these events. If you are accepted to officiate at any of their events then we will pay approved funding directly to Touch NZ, if not accepted funding will be returned to the funding pool.
